Metallurgy And Casting

Graphite serves as an indispensable "versatile player" in the metallurgical and casting industry, with its applications spanning nearly the entire process flow. This is primarily attributed to a series of unique physicochemical properties of graphite: high melting point, excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, good high-temperature strength, low thermal expansion coefficient, outstanding chemical inertness (especially towards molten metals), as well as superior lubrication and demolding performance.

Refractory materials

Graphite crucibles. This is the most classic application, used for smelting various metals such as gold, silver, copper, aluminum, and alloys, even special steels. Graphite crucibles are heat-resistant, conduct heat efficiently, and withstand thermal shock (rapid temperature changes), while not reacting with most molten metals, ensuring metal purity.

Melt oxidation barrier

Graphite powder . Graphite powder is sometimes used as a surface coating for molten metal to isolate it from air, preventing oxidation and absorption. When applied to mold surfaces, it provides lubrication and anti-adhesion properties, facilitating mold release of castings.

Engineering Materials

Graphite Plates. Graphite plates serve as core applications in heat treatment and sintering, critical forming tools for casting molds and models, essential for continuous casting and melt processing, and structural components of high-temperature furnaces. In this industry, they have evolved from traditional refractory and heat-resistant parts into key functional and structural materials that enable high-efficiency, high-precision, and high-quality production.

Graphite filler serves as a high-temperature resistant graphite material in the metallurgical casting industry, fulfilling flexible functions such as sealing, thermal insulation, electrical conductivity, and lubrication. It compensates for the limitations of hard graphite products in compressibility, adhesion, and filling capacity. The most extensive and critical application of graphite filler lies in high-temperature sealing, where it operates under extreme conditions including high temperatures, corrosive atmospheres, and thermal cycling, demanding exceptional sealing performance. It resolves sealing challenges in high-temperature and dynamic environments, ensuring the safe and prolonged operation of equipment. By providing flexible thermal insulation and electrical conductivity solutions, it optimizes process energy consumption and stability. As a convenient auxiliary material in casting operations, it enhances operational flexibility and success rates. From massive blast furnaces to precision vacuum melting furnaces, from high-temperature valves to continuous casting machines, graphite filler plays a silent yet indispensable role as a "key small component" in the metallurgical casting industry.

Thermal Insulation and Heat Shielding

Graphite paper . Flexible graphite paper exhibits excellent thermal conductivity anisotropy-high conductivity in the plane direction and low conductivity in the perpendicular direction. This makes it an ideal layering insulating material for filling or wrapping between furnace structures, pipelines, or equipment casings. It ensures uniform temperature distribution while effectively blocking radial heat flow, thereby minimizing thermal losses. Installed between components requiring thermal isolation yet needing connection e.g., between temperature probes and mounting bases, it prevents excessive heat transfer that could compromise instrument accuracy. Furthermore, its customizable properties-such as cutting, bending, and stacking-along with easy installation, make it a perfect solution for specific engineering challenges.
