Graphite sheet, as a high-performance thermal insulation material, is widely used in building exterior walls, industrial pipelines, and equipment insulation. Its construction quality directly impacts the insulation effect and durability of the project. Therefore, strict adherence to relevant construction standards is crucial to ensure a standardized construction process and reliable final results.

Substrate Preparation and Construction Preparation

Before construction, the subsurface should be flat, dry, free of oil and loose materials, and sanded or repaired as necessary. The ambient temperature for graphite sheet construction should be above 5°C, avoiding inclement weather such as rain, snow, and strong winds. Before construction, the graphite sheets should be pre-arranged to ensure proper dimensions and cut to the appropriate specifications according to design requirements. Cut edges should be neat to avoid burrs that may affect bonding.

Bonding and Fixing Process

Graphite sheets are primarily bonded using a specialized bonding mortar. The bonding area should meet design requirements, typically covering no less than 40% of the sheet area, and should be increased to over 60% for critical areas or high-rise buildings. The bonding mortar should be applied evenly, with a thickness of 3-5mm. Avoid areas that are too thick or too thin, which may result in a weak bond. After attaching the panels, gently press and adjust the position to ensure a tight fit with the base layer and no hollows. For larger or taller buildings, anchors are required. The number and spacing of anchors should comply with design specifications, typically requiring no fewer than 4-6 per square meter, to ensure overall stability.

Gap Treatment and Protective Layer Application

Graphite sheet joints should be tightly sealed. Gaps exceeding 2mm in width should be filled with a specialized caulking material to prevent thermal bridging. Before applying the surface protective layer (e.g., finishing mortar + mesh), check the panels for secure adhesion and ensure no looseness. The finishing mortar should be applied in several layers, maintaining a total thickness of 3-5mm. The mesh should be pressed into the mortar to avoid exposure and wrinkles, ensuring the protective layer's crack resistance and durability.

Quality Acceptance Standards

After completion, a visual inspection is required to ensure the graphite sheets are aligned, free of defects, and free of large hollows. Bond strength, protective layer thickness, and flatness must comply with relevant standards, including the "Standard for Acceptance of Construction Quality for Energy-Saving Buildings" (GB 50411). If necessary, on-site thermal conductivity testing may be conducted to ensure that insulation performance meets standards.
